Voynich
Manuscript:
Another take on an old mystery
The famous Voynich Manuscript has been a puzzle for centuries. Even today there is ongoing controversy as to what it actually is: an hoax, a cypher, a constructed language, and even a stegotext. This author suggests that the Voynich Manuscript is actually an example of an early unknown Germanic language and his paper attempts to show the plausability of this idea.
The author Jim Child was originally trained as a linguist in the history of the Indo-European language family. He changed direction some 50 years ago to work in modern languages as a teacher and translator for the United States Government. However, he has pursued, on the side, for some 30 years his original interests, including concentrating on the mysterious Voynich Manuscript. Jim believes that the Manuscript is written in an early (likely hitherto) unknown German language. This paper attempts to show the plausibility of this idea.
